About the Artist; Gelencer Janos, he was born in Pecs Hungary in 1960, in 1991 he became recognized as a young and brilliant artist winning the “Young Artists Studio of membership” of Hungary. Gelencer Janos, had been invited to become a member of the Hungarian Artists Association, regularly taking part in National Exhibitions. In 1999 Gelencer Janos won the Salgótarján Spring exhibition of Nógrádi Museum of History Award. Today he is among the most famous Hungarian Artist working with the technique of drawings in “Life and Literature” and highly sought after by the Hungarian Press.

Visiting this exhibition, we walk in the forests of dreams. The creator, János Gelencsér, organized a number of national exhibitions. János Gelencsér regularly draws, a member of the Association of Hungarian Graphic Artists who participates at drawing biennials and the International Graphics Biennial of Plzen. Many of his drawing were published in the magazine "Élet és Irodalom", "Life and Literature". At present, his graphics are shown at a international travelling exhibition, now in Poland. He is one of five artists showing their works. He is also involved in folk art as he plays in a folk music band.

The drawings of János Gelencsér are about man and the forever human. His strange, elongated figures hold mirrors to us, highlighting human characteristics. His graphics can be described with loving irony, the understanding of weakness and spiritual distortion.

The paintings are rather dark suggesting threatening atmosphere just as the optimism of tales with the ending "everything is good when the ending is good". Gelencsér applies harsh material on his canvas on which he applies strong deep colours. The message of the artist is about unbroken strength of will and endurance even if we do not see what is at the end of the road we still have to move on and wonder over all boundaries. To find our objectives, we have to step out of the every days and the thread mill.
